Follow - up Care
This may include the following:
Ongoing medication management
monitoring of symptoms and side effects
adjustments made thoughtfully and collaboratively
referrals to therapy and additional support when helpful.
Each session includes both an integrated approach that considers your mental, emotional, and physical health show up daily, including stressors, relationships, work, identity, and goals.
We create space for honest conversation about how symptoms affect your day-to-day functioning. Reflection on goals, values and what “feeling better”means to you.
A note on HIV, Relationships, and Family Planning
Living with HIV does not limit your right to intimacy, partnership, or family planning.
Mental health care includes conversations about relationships, disclosure, stigma, fertility, pregnancy, and parenthood — when and if these topics matter to you.
“Is this even possible for me?” Fear of infertility or automatic thoughts can make this a sour note. Often comes from old messages on early HIV narratives. These misconceptions often spiral into grief.
“Could I harm my partner or my child?” This thought is often led by transmission anxiety, to partner or the baby. Also, confusion about what is medically vs emotionally safe.
“Do I deserve to want this?” Yes!
“Who would support me?” Anticipated discrimination can create a burden of worry. Part of the conversation is confirming your support structure - expected vs what it really is and the logistics of your self agency to care for your self and a dependent.
Mind Cafe NP in Psychiatry understands these themes, our goal is to reduce the negative perception and normalize the experience. We invite the conversation to help you explore these questions with accuracy, compassion, and support.
